How will I know when a new product is competitive with another?

EXPERT RESPONSE
There are people who make it their business to do the competitive analysis. You certainly take a vendor's word for it, you must use independent analysis information. Some of the analyst or competitive lab organizations will have comparisons for existing products or they will do a comparison for a fee. Usually the comparisons are available as a subscription service or a single price and may be very well worth it to you.
