What role does WAFS, WADS, and WAAS play in remote and managed services backup?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Depending on what your needs and requirements are along with what your specific challenges for moving and accessing data over distance, bandwidth and application acceleration services including those provided by wide area file services (WAFS), wide area data services (WADS), or wide area application services (WAAS) vendors may be a fit for you. Take a step back and look at what your issues and problem areas are and what you need to accomplish. For example if managing and making sure your remote data is being backed up in a timely and cost effective manner, does it make sense to relocate as much of that data as possible to a consolidate site or to deploy a remote or distributed backup solution.
