QUESTION POSED ON: 24 January 2007
What technologies are there for me to get started with data deduplication?

>
There are target backup solutions that can be used in conjunction with existing backup software depending on specific product capabilities to co-exist while enhancing data backup. Other approaches are software based solutions to replace existing backup solutions. In addition to data deduplication, there are also compaction appliances like those from storewiz among others to compact the amount of data to send over a network and store on a target backup devices. Some vendors of data deduplication technology include Asigra, Atempo, DataDomain, , EMC, FalconStor, Permabit, Quantum, Sepaton, Symantec and Timespring among others
